The poem "The Kitten" is a very depressing poem, it gives the sense of sadness. The kitten was a stillborn and never got a chance to live its life. The
narrator takes the cat and buries it in the
field behind his or her house. The diction the
author uses portrays his or her love for the kitten even though it never lived. At the end of the poem the
author says "What other amazement" almost like she knows there are more moments that will be upsetting like this one.
